After doing my research I've decided not to try flying with them. Mainly because the good ticket price is smashed by the time I add my luggage both ways etc and Economy class on United is decent, I couldn't imagine seating with any less room and Spirit seats seem to be less.

We flew Spirit to Myrtle Beach as they had a direct flight. They charge for everything. Pick your seat is a charge. Over 40 lbs., a charge. I'm 6' 2" and barely fit n the row. The seat backs are very thin and you can feel the innards.
I'll not fly them again.
