Does it Matter?

Most of the Major International Airlines can get you to MEL thru some combination of 1 stop connections, in Asia, Middle East, US.

I was just wondering why some of those passengers chose Malaysian airline to stop at Kuala Lumpur, if there were better alternatives.

Great Circle Mapper 10273 nautical miles AMS-MEL
Great Circle Mapper 10281 nautical miles AMS-KUL-MEL

KUL is almost on the Direct Route Only few miles out of the way

Malaysian also code-shares with KLM

It is price.

I always fly non-stop.

So many advantages including a much lower likelihood of lost luggage.

In fact, I have never had luggage lost or delayed on a direct flight.

At some point I want my flight to stop. Hopefully, safely on the ground.
Oh, and one more thing....if I make the mistake of getting on a non-stop flight, I hope to God they're showing The Neverending Story as the inflight movie. I'd hate to get bored with too much free time.

Your post doesnt make sense and is contradicting, you say that "At some point" you want the "flight to stop" but yet you state that you rather take connecting flights which ironically means taking off and landing MULTIPLE times.. I honestly do not know ANYONE that likes connecting flights.. How is taking a non-stop flight a "mistake" !!??

Wel, you won't see the folks who go non stop.... Onle those with a connecting flight.

Was checking one of the websites with "cheap flights" Orbitz I think.
Going from Louisville to Phoenix, you need to change planes, no straight flight.
Going to Ontario CA, you connect, you guessed right, in Phoenix...
There are no non stop flights on these sites.
