It's all ridiculous, actually putting a bomb on a plane is no longer necessary. In this modern age, for under a thousand bucks, using off-the-shelf hardware and a cheap smartphone, a terrorist could build an autonomous, self-guided missile and take out any target he/she wanted with negligible risk of getting caught. Despite the fact that the US DoD spends exorbitant amounts of money for guided missiles, a sub-$100 smartphone can provide all of the processing power and guidance functions to accomplish the same task at a tiny fraction of the cost.
Even easier: drones are had cheap , attach a device to it, fly it in the approach path. There's already been numerous close calls with them. All this security theater is people trying to justify their jobs, and the jobs of the monkeys they employ. So go ahead, ban carry ons, make flying even more a pain, chase even more passengers away. It won't matter, terrorists will accomplish it if they want anyway.
To put it nicely, I would say that is very opinionated.
Essentially, I fail to see how the Six Day War could be a motivational source for hijackings when the 1954 war was not. Further, one must also keep in mind that the War of Attrition was going on during this time.
Basically, terrorist groups against Israel realized about this time that they made more of an impact by seizing airliners than killing Israel soldiers. I believed I once read that Abu Nidal realized this, but I can't find the source, so I can't be sure.
I would not be surprised to look back through history and find some event that enabled people to make the connection between airliners and international attention..............but I doubt it was the Six Day War.
Do you have other information that would say otherwise?
Palestinian terrorists were not the only ones who hijacked airplanes. There were many Cuban hijackings as well airliner hijackings in China, India, etc.
You know you're getting long in the tooth (yeah, I fall into that category) if you can remember getting on an airplane without having to go through security.
"...long in the tooth."
I must be a walrus, because I can remember when your family and friends could sit in the lounge at the departure gate with you and chat until the plane left.

And when you could run from the tunnel leading to the gate and into a beloved arms...Now they are circling the airport...swearing at you for coming in at a busy time and trying to time the flight so they can pick you up outside.....

I assume that was only on domestic flights in most countries except for the USA that doesn't have a separate outgoing immigration control (meaning visas/passports are checked by ground airline agents in the USA).

Sorry guys, they won't be banning carry on bags.... Just another sensationalist article
