The airlines sell products/services because there is a demand for them. You can buy a first class ticket wherever you go if you'd prefer. (Heck, you can rent your own personal jet.) But if airlines only offered first class seating, a lot of people would be unable to afford flying. Most people want the cheapest seat possible. You can complain about Spirit all you want, but their planes are always full and they are making money.

That's what I said...

Re: an all First Class airline. That has been tried several times in the past. Look up the defunct airlines named Regent, MGM Grand, McClain, UltrAir, and Legend. And none lasted very long.

Back in the early 80's I was paying as little as $1200 and the most expensive flight was $1700 and that was flying the cheapest fare for a flight from Omaha to Newark. Considering inflation those prices would be equivalent to $3000 to $5000 now.

For that price we got full meals on every flight. Most of my business trips would be 1-2 days and then the return trip so the meals on the planes was all the food I needed for the trip. If I have to fly commercial now I always fly first class and even first class now is not as good as the cattle car seating back then.
