Everyone always says how big LAX is when its actually pretty small. I was expecting it to at least be in the top 5 considering both cities are points of entry into the US.
Gates dont translate to passengers. Philly for example has a lot of gates but probably 40 are for RJs as it has a large Regional hub
Plane load varies widely by gate number. This more correlates to plane movement than passenger volume per se
LAX and SF have many wide body flights serving asian but fewer relative movements if that makes sense.
I believe that PHL is among the top 10 in plane movements yet like 15-20 in passengers if that makes sense - the inverse for LAX and SFO if my memory serves me correctly

Umm. I would hope people realize that gates don't translate to passengers. It's just a different ranking - that's it.
