Just when you thought airlines couldn't cut services any more than they have already, United comes up with this. Lucky(?) United frequent flyer members who are willing to part with many thousands of their miles can get a 747 seat or window sans a flight, that is. My wife got the email this afternoon and thought it was a joke. But it's true! Part of the proceeds from the sales will go to charity.

The 747 is loved enough among aviation. UFC’s that they’ll probably get a fair number of takers

The 747 is my favorite large commercial aircraft. But buying parts of it would never occur to me!

The panels and windows sold out right quick. Apparently a good number of people want a piece of one of the Queens of the Skies. Seats are still there- higher price and you need more space in your house for them.

When they put seats up for sale from Wrigley Field when renovations are being done, it's like a stampede to get them I imagine airplane fans would do the same for the 747. Someones man cave or den with a couple of 747 seats may be interesting.

Too many hours in a 747 seat for me.... but I could imagine a replica of a 747-100 upper deck as a home entertainment room. Complete with your own flight attendant for only 5 rows.

The luggage bins allowed you to stretch out with your feet up. Nice touch.

I forgot about the Flight Simulator crowd.... how about a 747 Pilots seat as you're flying the skies?

Would be Great for a 3-D / virtual reality gaming station, but,,, can you imagine the HOURS a vintage 747 Pilot seat would have!

Their service schedule was gruesome! 12 hr flight, then a quick turn and back in the sky...

Thought of that, but I wonder if their union has a say in comfort, ie: seat replacement schedule. Anyone know?
