Is the CS100 meant to fill the void left by retiring MD-80/88/90? Delta has the biggest remaining fleet of those (legacy Northwest, perhaps?) if I remember correctly.

The CS100 is considerably smaller than the MD-80/88/90. The CS300 with extra emergency doors is comparable to the McDonnell Douglas MD-88 of which Delta has 109 left with 3 class 149 seats. Even the CS300 is smaller than the McDonnell Douglas MD-90-30 which will be replaced by the Airbus A321neo.

The most sensible solution to the CS100 is it will be flown by Aeroméxico Connect of which Delta owns 49%. Regional airlines in Mexico are not bound by the scoping clause in the contracts of US pilots which binds them to planes with 76 or fewer seats. The CS100 is normally configured with 110 seats.

The current Aeroméxico Connect Fleet is only 59 seats so if they take all 75 CS100 planes it will more than double the size of the airline.
Embraer E-170 76 seats : 13 planes
Embraer E-190 99 seats :46 planes

Aeroméxico Connect is based in Monterrey Mexico while Aeroméxico obviously is based in Mexico City. However, the airports of Guadalajara and Tijuana are expanding quickly in Mexico.

I voted for the CS100, although I haven't actually flown on one... my bet is that an all-new design is almost certain to be more comfy.
