No actually it was to emphasize the reality that y'all live in a world that a plane full of adults is subject to the ineffective communication between the parents and the child. The fact that SWA could not control the situation is typical of their hair brained policies. So do you have anything other than vile criticism to contribute?

Since another poster asked the question. This is where my "pissing match' with SWA began. Since this time dozens of arbitrary decisions by SWA have resulted in the inconvenience and unabated poor treatment of the flying public. IN the most recent case it was less about safety than SWA being able to promote it's draconian control on US Citizens and their families. You may want to give this some additional thought.

It's not about a childs "rights" it is about their nature. It is normal for a 4 year old to cry and act out when faced with a new and scary situation, (ask any Kindergarten or Preschool teacher) and want her daddy's arms. She is NOT a poorly behaved child due to being afraid and wanting comfort. It took all of a few minutes before the little girl was calm and buckled in her seat, THEN the flight crew returned and told them they had to leave.

If the other passengers were so put out by her behavior, then why does the article you posted state the other passengers objected to the girl and her family being thrown off?? Obviously they felt differently than you about the situation and whether this toddler was the bad seed you make her out to be.


Vile is a bit of a stretch, don't you think?

The airlines need to let parents know that bratty behavior won’t be tolerated. If you are a parent not wanting to discipline your child, the whole family needs to be put off the flight. Since the airlines insist on making more money by packing us in like sardines well behaved people are a MUST. No more tolerance for adults either acting like an A**hole.

This is appropriate. It's an adult location. Children need to be told in advance they are going to be in an adult place on an airplane and it's exciting but might be a little different. They should have their favorite comfort toy, a place of their own next to mom or dad and will be meeting very nice people. Parents need to make the childs feelings of safety and familiarity a priority and introduce the child to the flight attendant and maybe the people seated around them. Parents also need to have a plan "b" like requesting seats near the rear of the airplane. If your child is typically anxious ask your pediatrician about potential medications which can assist with the flight.

This is called parenting.

And had this happened, this family wouldn't have taken the next flight to Atlanta.

What should Southwest have done?

SWA should have had 2 minutes worth of patience. Instead everyone was delayed 90 minutes of delays, MISSED connections, meetings missed... For a crying child who was behaving like a kid as pointed out.

But SWA enjoys and empowers their employees to knee jerk reactions on people they don't think comport to their model of passengers. SWA is a prime example of private corporations just walking over good, normal and decent people.

If you feel that's ok then fly em. I don't so I won't.

"Two minutes of patience" causes delays in the commercial aviation business. When the time comes, you're either ready or not. Strap on, stow your carryon bag, turn your phone off and get ready to start going where you're going. It works the same for everybody.

You've been all over the place in this thread in all regards except your beef with SWA. It's the only consistent position you've taken.
