Radar outages are dangerous, I'm not sure how long they lasted for you, but an untold number of things can happen in a short time, especially when running a sequence to an airport and you're relying on radar to turn base and provide proper separation.
I got a job selling cars, and eventually ended up as the GM of a couple of new car dealerships...spent 12 yrs in car business. Then got mortgage loan license, did that for a yr, then started flipping houses, then got my real estate license and have been a Realtor for 10 years. Love being a Realtor, but miss the adrenaline rush of ATC.

Years ago, I considered ATC. At the time, there were very few openings and it was hard to get in. After I decided that my odds were not good enough to apply, the ATC strike happened and President Reagan fired a bunch of controllers, creating a lot of openings. I was too close to the age 31 window at that point to take advantage of it. Glasses kept me out of flight school, and numbers kept me out of ATC. Basically my entire family was in aviation.
