I received a notification:"Circumstances beyond our control (weather, etc.) are creating disruptions to our scheduled service and a flight(s) on which you are currently booked may be adversely affected. To minimize your inconvenience, we are offering you the one time opportunity to change your flight date(s) and/or time(s) at no additional cost in accordance with our established recommodation practices..."

My flight is from DAL to BUR.

I don't know what exact circumstances are problematic. So I changed to LAX, and I am still shown the option to change flights.

Weird.

It’s could be weather somewhere else in the country or the grounding of aircraft causing the rescheduling. What exactly are you confused about?

My flights are DAL - Los Angeles(BUR, LAX, SNA, whatever) on March 19 and LA to DAL on March 24.

I changed a leg of my flight, but I was still prompted the message that circumstances beyond their control may affect at least one leg of my flight.

I mean, I tried to reschedule a flight that would be free of the likely disruption but no success.

By the way, anyone has recent experience with southwest terminal at LAX?

Old news said there's construction going on, not sure if it's still affecting flights.

I know a couple of my friends who had flights scheduled to Vegas next week had same issues due to the grounding of 737 Max series. SWA has about 34 737 Max 8/9's that are part of that grounding order. So this can very well be the reason.

So, changing flights doesn't help me avoid flights disruption anyway.

You'd have to make the change to see. I know one of them called and was on the phone for almost an hour. But this was the day the order was made (last Wed?). You can also check your itinerary just to verify your flight was/is on that plane. There was obviously also a lot of weather going on in CO. last week. But I'm guessing most of that has passed.

It's most likely a 737 Max grounding. It's "beyond their control" because the FAA ordered it.

I kind of wish FAA didn't ground max.

I would say the above is most likely the culprit if not weather related which they usually report as the reason when it's that.

Southwest is also been having issues as they negotiate with their mechanics. The link below is to an article a few weeks ago that could explain some issues.

American Airlines did notify me by email on Thursday to say that the issues with the Boeing Max could disrupt some flights but they were doing everything possible to minimize that effects on passengers and flights.

Good luck
