The OP is going to try to do the thing, so we may as well not try to talk him out of it. I wish him success, for failure would be disastrous.

I think it's a good time for an old pilots' joke:

'The propellors are there to cool the pilots. If you don't believe it, just watch them sweat when they stop.'

Yes. The need to fly around the country and verbally attack all of you naysayers will give him the extra motivation to get this airship afloat.

First - unless you are strapping a lawn chair to a helium filled bag, or a cardborad box to a hot air filled bag, the weight will probably exceed 255 lbs. Go over 255 total weight for the aircraft, and you will need to get a pilots license with the correct type certification - AND - the aircraft will still have to be inspected and certified as an under 255 ultralight or as an over 255 experimental aircraft. Are you prepared to spend the money required just to get a license and certification for the aircraft? You need to start by figuring out how much will that aircraft weight so you know what licenses and certifications are required and what it will cost and how long it will take to get it.

I'm not only going to need more headache pills but I will also need a lot more cigarettes. Y'all have been both helpful and a nuisance. Actually those who have been suggesting a lawn chair and a **** load of balloons are the nuisances. My head is starting to hurt because of them. And the ones who have been helpful, thank you a lot. I'm seriously going to need more Tylenol/Motrin and Marlboro's.

I don't want to use chemicals. And that's not a very funny joke with all of this stuff. I am going to use an oven to lift this.
