Usually your property tax bill is paid by your mortgage company, through your escrow account. I would check there first.

Also, if your house is your primary residence, you can pay semi-annually instead of annually. This is at least true for Baltimore City.

Your property taxes have to be two years in arrears before it can go to tax sale. Even then you can pay only one year and get it taken off the sale list. Developers/investors often work the system that way.

I would talk to the tax office and see if you can file for an extension.

Well to be fair, if you've owned a home for any period of time you should know that property taxes are due every year...

you are right. but no one knows the situation. my ex who is the co-owner of the house doesn't live here anymore. he went back to India. he still owns the house with me but doesn't pay for anything. I pay insurance, property tax and home associations fees. everything......He doesn't participate in anything. I have been trying to get in contact with him but off course there is no replies from him. I am sorry not trying to share my personal info but I had to explain why I am lacking in my payments . I have a retail job which doesn't pay that great. thank god atleast the house is paid off!!!!! or I would be homeless right now.
