LOL. I still don't get that one. I remember a girl in middle school asking me, "Can I hold yer crown??" She was asking if she could borrow my crayon.

Default A teachable moment

This fugging discussion has had some educational value. Looking at the various definitions I am shocked to find out that despite living in Baltimore I had no idea that a fugg was a fa-. Thank you, Avtomat Kalashnikova.

So a fugg could be the Baltimore pronunciation of the 7.62x39mm cartridge that, fired from AK 47, produces significant wounding (including remote wounding effects known as hydrostatic shock) in cases where the projectile tumbles and fragments in tissue, but which produces relatively minor wounds in cases where the projectile exits before beginning to yaw.
What the fugg is that all about?
a fugg is a cigarette

I didn't know it was uncommon for "hold" to mean "borrow" because I've been hearing that on TV for years. I'm pretty sure I heard Dave Chappelle using it a decade ago.

It is odd where I am from. I never heard it until my buddies moved to Baltimore. But then again, I doubt many of you have ever stoved your finger either

You don't realize that many terms you use every day are "regional dialect" terms until you run into someone from somewhere else that gives you a confused look when you mention something in passing.

Not always... in Baltimore "street" slang .....'hold' is the involuntary reaction of someone gripping the entry point of a bullet. Picture the old western shows where the cowboy after being shot in the chest....grasps (or holds) their chest before they make their slow decent to the floor.....Hence when someone yells:

"$#%@ sucker, hold dat!!!" while they are shooting.

I was told that by a BPD Officer....
