Default Volunteer Opportunities In Baltimore for Thanksgiving 2010

Hello everyone! I plan on relocating to Baltimore in the next couple of months.

In the meantime, I am visiting back and forth ALL the time! I will be there for Thanksgiving and would love to volunteer during the holiday. Just to meet new people and find something to do since my family is here in Atlanta.

Anyone volunteering, or know of an organization to volunteer for? Most of the searches I've done online link to volunteer opportunities in DC, not Baltimore.

Thanks!

I've been trying to get involved in more charity work for about a year. I went as far as to get more volunteers (over 30) to be involved with Junior Achievement, and can't even get them to return my calls. I've been a JA coordinator and volunteer for 8 years, including some rough cities. This is the hardest I've had to work just to GIVE my time.

Every year in the city I live I join up w/ a food bank...same story. Can't get them to return my calls, or emails. It's frustrating.

Try the Bea Gaddy family center. Just show up at a place. Who is going to turn you away if you want to help?

I heard an interview on WEAA last night with the director of the Bea Gaddy center that it is in desperate need of volunteers. Just go down to the center, it's on Chester St.
