Why put yourself in harm's way? All of the city is devastated. Look to the 'burbs (North Baltimore County) and even those are deteriorating. Really, there is no escape when you have such a disparity between rich and poor, the educated and the ignorant.
This is a great resource that culls all the news sources Baltimore Crime
I worry about you living on your own in this cesspool. Please take care.

Now, answer this
Dickens -- Your negativity is stunningly overwhelming. I bet yours is a very miserable life.
Where do you live? Where would you like to live, if given the choice?
Is there any place on earth that is safe and not deteriorating?
Is life worth living?

Wow, that's a huge leap! Why so defensive? Do we not live in the 2nd most dangerous city in America? The facts speak for themselves, barante.

I live in CV; my mother, in Bolton Hill.
CV has teachers/professors, non-MICA creative types--it is not a corporate area. Bolton Hill, aside from MICA, has more lawyers, DC commuters, corporate people.
I much prefer CV because it is near the Baltimore Museum of Art, a Major hospital, the Johns Hopkins University, several restaurants, the Farmer's Market on Sat. mornings, lots of dogs and friendly--at times unusual/interesting/quirky--people.
In my opinion, BH is snooty--too much for me anyway. It seems to be older and much more expensive than CV. BH is, however, close to the Lyric for opera, trains, the Meyerhoff/symphony.
CV, the closer you get to JHU, has students, who can be a pain in the tail with noise, Sat. night urination, etc. etc.
Lately, CV has had more crime than usual. But I think overall BH has much more crime--car break-ins, holdups.
CV is larger, I think. Its boundaries are from--roughly--25th St. to 33rd St. and Howard St. to Greenmount.
The houses in BH are usually grander. But the houses in CV are, I think, more interesting.
