I went to Morgan State U and my whole time living out there there never really wasnt any crimes. West side seemed more ghettoh, more like NYC with projects and shyt. Over east mostly row homes. I heard that eastsiders always wanted to be known and would kill people just for the rep.

East Baltimore is indeed in a bad shape. But for people interested in urban decay your city is one of the best!

The street is probably left, surrounded by vacant lots. They should update these Google pics more often.

I think they don't update them purposely to help prevent stalking and stuff.

It's a tough call. While they are both very run down, I would say east side is more run down with vacants. A lot of people don't realize that much of The Wire was filmed on the east side even though it mostly took place west side. Having said that, in terms of crime they are both terrible, especially the specific neighborhoods you're referring to.
On a side note, I'm orginally from DC and until I went to sw bmore around monroe street I had no clue ghetto inner city white folks even existed. -not rednecks, but straight hood..Long tees, baggy jeans, tatoos, hangin on the corner. I thought I landed in bizarro world.

They didn't exist 15 years ago. Welcome to the wonderful 21st century where the dregs of society can have their culture glorified, emulated, and spread to new diverse groups!

For the life of me, I don't understand why this is happening. I was born off Edmonson Avenue, near Harlem Avenue. Despite terrific setbacks, my family believed in nurturing the kids, in pursuing education, in working hard, in church activities, in obeying the law, in two-parent families to the extent that early deaths permitted, men who acted like men and supported their families, and so forth. As a result, my generation is in great shape. In my opinion, all of the "old-fashioned" things I just mentioned add up to a much more healthy culture than what we seem to be developing now.
