Relocating to Maryland (commuting distance to Aberdeen) and looking for recommendations on schools. How are Towson High? Dulaney High? Dumbarton Middle? Ridgely Middle?

I grew up in Timonium, went to both Ridgley and Dulaney....I can offer some insight.

Dulaney is known in the area as having the best upper level public education (AP's, etc.) as well as middle level 'Honars Level' education (what I was in dor the most part), but the 'Standard' classes are just the same as any other in the county. A bit tough to learn/prepare for college. Also, for a public school, Dulaney is one of the most, in not the most, afluant public schools in the area which often times attracts more 'college bound' youth.

Ridgley is also a good education - Cockeysville middle as well.

What you have to remember is that that area is so inandated with private scoops it skews the numbers a bit.

PM me for more info.

These are good, solid public schools of the caliber one expects to find in prosperous suburbs. I doubt if I would call them "outstanding" schools when compared to certain high schools in the Washington suburbs or, say, Stuyvesant High School in Manhattan. But they will offer a more than competent education which is bolstered by the relatively well-educated background of the students and their families. In other words, you won't go wrong with either Dulaney or Towson.

As an above poster mentioned, Baltimore has a large private school presence which tends to dominate the local educational news. Many families zoned for Dulaney or Towson send their children to private schools but it's not reflective of any failings on the public school's part.

If I had to differentiate between Dulaney and Towson, Dulaney is a bit more "white bread" and conventionally suburban while Towson is a bit more "urban progressive."

I live in the city and have younger children so I wouldn't know but you may want to check the BaltimoreMommies.com site. They have lots of members from that part of the area.
