Im moving to Baltimore in July to train at UM medical center. Is the area around Scott and West Lombard Sts safe?

I don't think it's too bad. That neighborhood is in transition, you could say. Lots of UM Med people there. I had a friend who lived on Scott Street and she never had any problems in the year she was there.

I'm considering to rent a room in a 2 bed appartment at Scott street across MLK. Or should I consider getting it in Portland Street in Ridgley's Delight?

Ridgely's delight is very nice. If you have a car, I think it will be easier to park on Scott St. Having to cross MLK can be a pain.

I say Ridgely's is the better of these two areas, but there's nothing wrong with Scott St. Just on the wrong side of a very wide, very fast road.

If you see a blue light on a telephone pole, beware, seriously.

That area isn't too bad and is improving, but conventional wisdom is to stay east of MLK which is what I would still advocate.

Ridgley's would be better with Federal Hill being a significant upgrade over either... lots of UMM residents live in Federal Hill.
