Recently moved to Baltimore and house shopping. Had been looking primarily in West Towson, Stevenson, and Roland Park, but now am thinking about Sudbrook Park area of Pikesville, which is quite a bit cheaper.

Is the area safe and are there any other issues we should consider? Kids in private school, so that's not an issue.

Default Pikesville/Sudbrook Park

Nice area, families, safe etc. - drive-ably close to a lot of stuff - teachers at my kid's (private) school live there and seem to enjoy it.

Do consider commute time to/fro the school and work...the main corridors in Pikesville can be pretty jammed at different times of the day....this past week, with schools on spring break for the first few days, it was as if the JFX was mine, all mine...

Also consider if you want walkable amenities - other areas may (RP) or may not (Stevenson) fit your bill.
