My family and I are waiting to close on a property in the West Friendship area of Ellicott City (between Frederick Road and I-70). I see a lot of semi-rural area there, which I like, and a lot of American flags displayed, which I like as well. My family and I have been living in oh-so-progressive Montgomery County and can't wait to leave it and it's kooky politics. If I had to label myself, I would say more of a centrist, but definitely not fond of many Liberal beliefs and politics. Is this area of Howard County/Ellicott City more in line with someone who is basically middle of the road?

In West Friendship, most of your neighbors will be senior/white/conservative.
The farther west you go on Howard county, the more conservative you will get. (except some spots of new development) But, remember the Howard county is also liberal leaning county in liberal state yet rural part of Hoco is Rep/con.

I'm fine with that. As long as folks aren't too far to the Right that's okay with me, as well as just about anything to the Left. Just want to be left alone to raise my family as I see fit, and not have anyone's personal or political agenda forced down my throat.

The best thing about West Friendship was the Friendly Inn ( a well-known bluegrass haven frequented by both wealthy and poor, educated and ignorant, left and right) which was the real cultural treasure of Howard County but is now ruined by the new owners. Welcome to McMansionville.
