Ah, good to see that paranoid racism is not exclusive to the southwestern states.

I'm really surprised that this passed in the first place. How can someone illegal receive benefits legally? If they are illegal then how are they going to get a job in MD? Will a law be passed for that next? If not then these people will just leave with an education MD tax payers subsidized.

We do need to figure out how to deal with illegal immigrants on a national level but the government is failing to deal with the problem.

Because they paid income taxes for the past three years, as well as sales tax and various other state taxes.

They could join armed forces. Or yes, a law could be passed. What's wrong with that? What's wrong with accepting an intelligent and educated person as a U.S. citizen?

MD tax payers are currently being subsidized via poorly paid hamburger-flippers who have kept the cost low at fast-food chains. Did I mention that illegals pay MD taxes?

There are several hedges and restrictions that come with state resident tuition for illegals. For one thing, they must attend community college for the first two years and are allowed at four-years schools only during their last two years. There are other restrictions.

The American people need to figure out how to deal rationally with immigration.

I don't think a law should be passed by states to allow illegal immigrants to work legally because the nation needs to come to an agreement on how to deal with the situation. We have processes in place for immigrants to become citizens and work legally. I don't think the current processes are working but it's not as easy as just allowing an intelligent and educated person to work or become a citizen.

Again, how do they pay legally? Just because companies and people hire illegals doesn't make it right.

They need to get legal.

I guess we can agree on this point.

Racism? Why is it racist for taxpayers wanting their tax dollars to benefit citizens and permanent residents exclusively?

BTW, an illegal can be of any race as can Hispanics for that matter.

The term "legally" is a red herring. They pay taxes to the state of Maryland. They deserve something in return. The Maryland State Legislature thinks so, as does your Governor. Good for them. I am proud of my former state.

You must be completely naive not to know that sons and daughters of illegal immigrants are fighting and dying in Iraq and Afghanistan. Do you suppose they are doing so illegally? The US Army certainly knows their status. Or is it "don't ask, don't tell" for illegals as well, just go fight and die? And after their discharge they can go back to Central America with an attaboy.

You need to calm down and learn how to debate without getting so defensive!

Maryland should return the money if it's from illegal immigrants.

The Military shouldn't allow illegal immigrant to fight.

There you go big boy.

You know, I read an article recently that said that illegal immigrants paid over $11 billion in taxes last year. You know how much GE paid? Zero.

This illegal immigration crisis is cooked up by those in power to distract you from who's really robbing you blind. Illegal immigration peaked in 2000 and they're contributing more to our society than many major corporations which have just been taking and taking your money.

Just wanted to put that out there.

For the record, illegals can't join the military. Non-citizens may join as long as they have proper documentation such as a green card and have established residency. This can be a good path for them to become citizens quicker. People should get their facts straight before making statements.
