Hey, guys, there are some truly nice pockets of Brooklyn Park on the Anne Arundel County side, well south of Patapsco and east of Ritchie Highway. Among them are relatively recently constructed townhouses (rowhouses).
If I were you, I'd just drive by one weekend afternoon and ask residents mowing their lawns what their neighborhood is like.
It's like a night and day between night and day, at least in appearance, between this neighborhood and Pigtown. My second choice would be Violetville but since you work in AA., Brooklyn Park might be just the ticket.

Curtis Bay is more run down than Pigtown? Wow?

So you don't know if Curtis Bay is part of the city or not, but you know how run down it is or isn't? You make no sense. Stop with the Google maps already.

In short, for Curtis Bay, the closer to the water tank at the top of the hill, the better.

There's a section of Brooklyn Park called Pumphrey, which is pretty nice. A few cops live there.

Interesting thread.

I was google mapping the other day, and this area looks like it has an urban feel, (i.e. rowhomes) but also some commerical businesses ability...and kind of a rural feel as well.

A very interesting area.
