Does anyone know how bad the commute is from Baltimore to Ft. Meade? I have seen people here say it's anywhere from 20 minutes to over an hour. Can someone speak from experience? Google maps says it's about half an hour but that doesn't factor in traffic.

I make this drive every day. It depends on where in Baltimore you are commuting from. I commute from the Patterson Park area and it takes anywhere from 35 mins to 1+ hours depending on traffic. A lot depends on what type of day you are commuting as well.

Let's say you're commuting by car during usual commuting hours (between 7-9am, 4-6pm?) Would the commute be over an hour then?

I commute during those time and during the mornings I have only hit traffic bad enough to make my commute around an hour maybe once or twice.... evenings are a different story though, my commute is never less than 45 minutes. But like I said before, it all depends on where you are coming from. Some places will take less time, others more...

I haven't gotten as far as picking an area of Baltimore yet but it would probably be west of 83... something like Mt. Vernon or Federal Hill.

In Federal Hill, you can get on 295 in about 1 minute. That would make your trip very easy. Only 13 miles on 295.
