I will be moving from Florida (near Jacksonville) to Baltimore in July. Planning to take I95 all the way up, stopping in North Carolina for an overnight stay. What's the best time of the week/time of day to make the trip? Especially concerned about hitting traffic in the Richmond/DC area. I'd prefer not to drive at night, but am open to it if it means less traffic.

Just avoid the stretch between Woodbridge to Baltimore between the hours of 3:30 and 7 p.m. during the week and I think you'll be ok. Richmond isn't bad. On the weekends there won't be any predictable slowdowns.

My wife and I just drove from Baltimore to Melbourne Beach, Florida, taking two overnights.
Our trip was pretty uneventful, except on 95 just south of Richmond construction was going apace, and the highway was literally stopped for a few moments, and slow after that as traffic was channeled from 4 lanes to two.
Richmond was no problem as we took the I295 bypass, and it was nice.
Suggest you try to avoid 95 around DC the same hours as mentioned above, and you may be ok.
