Default Where to live between Baltimore and Poolesville

I recently got a job in Poolesville, and will be moving in with my boyfriend in the fall, and we're trying to find a place to live. He works in Baltimore, so we'd like to find a place in the middle. However, he works 12-14 hour days, and I work about 8-9 hour days, so I don't mind commuting farther. Also, I have to be at work at 7, so I'll be leaving early, hopefully before any traffic.

Right now we're considering Silver Spring and Columbia. Columbia is preferable for the area and cost of living, but does anyone know what a commute from Columbia to Poolesville would be like at 6 am? Or have any other suggestions? I would like to keep his commute under 45 minutes, and as close to 30 minutes as possible. I don't mind commuting an hour or so, as long as the traffic in the morning isn't bad. If I get stuck in traffic on the way home I don't mind.

Help!

Howard County sounds ideal. Columbia is about 20 minutes to Baltimore.

Hate to break it to you but you need to be prepared to spend and hour and half just coming home from Poolesville to Columbia each day. Your morning commute *should* be a bit better, under an hour. Your husband will make it to and from Baltimore in 30 minutes on a good day and an hour or more on bad ones. Good luck!

I'm a teacher, so I could potentially leave work around 3, unless I have to stay after to help students, so hopefully I can beat the traffic some days. The morning is what I'm more concerned with, so if it'll be about an hour I'm fine with that.

If I commute an hour and a half home, I'll just have to remember it's only until the summer! :-)
