Default Commute from Baltimore to Silver Spring?

I have an internship in the fall in Silver Spring, but I currently live in Baltimore. Does anyone do this commute from Baltimore to Silver Spring in the AM and Silver Spring to Baltimore PM? I'm not sure of the times, but I would imagine I would need to be there at 8:30 AM and leave around 5 PM. The internship is just off of 212...according to Google Maps the fastest route is 95S to 212W - it says it should take 34 min, but how long would this really take given traffic?

Thanks!

Silver Springs is a big area, so is Baltimore. If you start in say, Federal Hill so you are close to 95S and don't have to deal with any major Baltimore traffic hassles like Ft. McHenry or some other bottlenecks, taking 95 to 212 will take you about 40-45 minutes on average during rush hour (about 15 minutes more than usual). Afternoons are a little worse than mornings usually. Add in whatever it is past that from the interstate to your job. 212 has a reasonable amount of traffic of its own and some lights to deal with. Accidents will screw up your day majorly, hopefully you have a position that is a little flexible on the inevitable days traffic is more than expected and they won't hassle you in you aren't there at the stroke of 8:30 every day.

I often commute to College Park from Federal Hill and it is a pretty easy commute because you avoid 495, typically takes 30-40 minutes.

Looks like your commute will also skip 495, so it should not be a big deal, especially just for an internship.

Count on a commute of at least an hour since you'll be driving with everyone else who lives in B'more and works in the DC-area. It might be a good idea to do a dry-run so you can get an idea of what you'll be up against on a day-to-day basis.

I actually do live near Federal Hill, so getting to 95 won't be a problem, and my internship is right off of 212. So it sounds like 40-45 minutes would be a good estimate. I was thinking it would be much longer. Thanks for the help!
