Looking for suggestions on a possible relo to Baltimore. We need a suburb with top notch public schools, safe, nice parks, pleasant, etc. Would be looking for a 4 br for no more than 450k. And if I could push my luck, someplace with relatively easy access to DC, as I anticipate having to drive there fairly often for work as well; but thats my last priority in terms of criteria. Thanks

Ellicott City in Howard County. 11-12 miles to downtown Baltimore, 30 miles to DC, and has everything else on your list. I'd live there myself but can't afford it - sounds like you can.

Ellicott City or Columbia. You can find a house in that price range as long as you are willing to buy older construction.

I would reccomend north Howard county or Severna Park/Arnold. Those are the best areas that aren't really far from DC.

For $450k you can definately get a 1980s/90s house with 4bdrms in a good area in Ellicott City. Top notch school in Howard County - you pay a premium of $25-$50k. But even the middle of the pack schools in HC are good enough for some discerning folks. Severna Park (I've heard) isn't as transient as HC (people relocated from elsewhere in the country/planet).

Hands down Severna Park. Some of the best schools in MD, B&A Trail and great parks. Water access with nice neighborhood beaches. Easy commute to Bmore, DC and Annapolis.

I agree you could purchase a nice home in Severna Park, Millersville, Annapolis area at that amount. The areas you mentioned though are not in Baltimore County. For BC you're looking at Towson, Ruxton, Mays Chapel, Loch Raven and Lutherville areas among others. Loch Raven has a really nice watershed area that is great for families and such.
