I strolled through this area during the daytime and am close to signing a lease about a block away from the Belvedere, then I did a Yahoo! Search and found this link. Is this place still there? I want to move to this city to escape the outrageous rents of WashingtonDC/Montgomery County MD, but not at the cost of living next to teenage clubs.

Ok, so many neighborhoods are mentioned here. I am a 24yr old single woman thinking of becoming a first time homeowner in Baltimore. I attend grad school at UMBC. I was looking into condos or townhouses of 2/3 bedrooms. range 250K or less (flexible). But safety is a priority and I am not looking to be mugged or knifed. I just wrote down 14 different neighborhoods from this and other suggestions but that's too much to work with. Help narrowing it down?

To conwaysearth:

Translation .. 212.. is anything in the greater Baltimore area.

Sarcasm aside. There are many great neighborhoods in the area and a lot of bad ones too.

If you look at www.yahoo.com/maps, the neighborhoods are color coded and labeled.

Looking at the following link on Wikipedia will give you the lowdown on most of those places:

List of Baltimore neighborhoods - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

Since there is no right to self-defense in criminal-friendly MD, your only option of not getting raped, mugged, or shot would be to avoid blighted neighborhoods altogether.

Good luck on your search.
