So I logged on the The Sun's website yesterday to read a story and found out that I'd exceeded my "15 free pages for the month" and if I wanted to read more, I'd have to subscribe for 75 per week.

I must have missed the announcement. I don't plan on subscribing because I can get local news elsewhere but I'm curious as to how that will do.

Anyone plan on subscribing? Do you think its a good sales strategy? I think it could be detrimental to thrie ad dollars if they lose a chunk of online readers.

I'm up in the air about subscribing.

75 cents isn't a lot a week. I usually read the stories because I'm bored and don't care about them.

No, 75 cents is fair. But the same story I was trying to read online yesterday I saw on Fox 45 this morning. So why pay?

I wonder if it will work because there are other sources for local news.

Try deleting your cookies. Under Tools menu, internet options, delete cookies. Can also just block your cookies, that works too. At some point they need to strengthen their paywall as it seems they had an amateur set it up.

And yes, it's business suicide if they think the majority will pay to read that paper.

Jesus, $3/month is too much for you? Those people down on Calvert Street don't work for free (not quite, anyway).

Why do people think they deserve print news for free?

If you think Fox 45 news at 10 is on the same level as the Sun, you probably can't read anyway.

The Sun isn't great but it's all we have for true hard news reporting.

That only applies if you're a paper subscriber.
For everyone else its about $100 a year.

Money aside... I haven't subscribed because I'm not living there anymore
and aside from a very few features the only thing I miss is the blogs.

Well, when I forget to flush the cookies that is.

Then by all means, whip out your credit card and go ahead and subscribe because its not all that to me.

I personally found no value in paying to read an online news article. I get more enjoyment from my $16 a year Glamour subscription than I do the Sun.

So its all yours!

I was able to stop the window from popping up by stopping the page from loading.

Sunday only subscriber for $4 a month. $29 per year for the online. The content isn't spectacular but worth that amount. I enjoy the local sports, business and blogs.
