Default Should Occupy Baltimore Protesters Be Evicted?

I think so.
It just looks like a tent city, it kinda stinks, and the shouting is annoying.
The Harbor is one of best places for tourist in the city, it's a shame that they have to see, smell and hear that mess.

I also don't like that they seem to be threatening (possible confrontations like Oakland)the city, if the government does not allow them to break the law.

Its my understanding that it's illegal to camp in that area. (Unless I misheard the news.)

Do you think they should be evicted?

Not really sure, I'm not happy with the government (both parties but more the Republicans/crazy Tea Party) and Wall Street.

Let' em stick around. America should be on the side of the protesters, not the guys with the guns (See Boston Massacre) They will eventually lose interest and move on.

I voted no, but I don't appreciate that tag-on about whining.

I just don't get what they want. If they were complaining about all the money Gov't and Gov't contractors were making, I'd join them, but who cares how private companies spend their money. Did any bmore companies get a bail out?

I don't get OWS. But I don't get the Tea Party either. They all seem a day late and a dollar short. The time to get active for the OWS folks was the 2010 election. The liberals slept in and lost the House, thus scuttling the Obamagenda.

I will say the same thing about the Tea Party. Obama's record was very far left as a candidate, just like now. If those folks had 1/2 the interest in the 2008 election, we would have President McCain right now.

Americans are always one cycle behind in politics.

Not to defend the amount of money government contractors make neccessarily, but I have to point out that a LOT of people don't truly understand the dynamic of how it all works.

I for the record am a defense contractor, not an corporate figure, but one of the actual techs filling a position.

Anyways, the thing people don't understand is that its actually cost effective for the taxpayer. Filling those positions with a civilian contractor is less expensive than filling them with an equally skilled, experienced, and security cleared military member.

Becuase they're getting rich on our money:

Troubled Asset Relief Program - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

BBC NEWS | Business | Bank of America bail-out agreed

Merrill Lynch paid billions in bonuses before bailout - Telegraph

Companies that fail get bailed out. Executives that fail get bonuses in the billions. Your tax money has paid for this. Meanwhile those of us who are fortunate enough to be working are watching our 401ks and housing value disappear. Those in the 10%+ who are unemployed get more desperate.

This visual should help: http://graphics8.nytimes.com/images/...ay.graphic.jpg

And also this Rolling Stone article (admitedly biased, but excellent): Wall Street Isn't Winning It's Cheating | Matt Taibbi | Rolling Stone

And WSB, do you think this wouldn't be happening if McCain were in office? People are desperate to be heard. Their leaders have been bought by the banks, and paid for with your tax dollars.

This is an indictment of both corporate-owned political parties. It's not a republican-democrat issue. Everyone who pays taxes should be mad (which is why OWS has 47% support).

As for evicting them, YES. They should be evicted. Its not about protesting, its about the manner in which they do it. Citizens have the right to conduct protests, but there are still rules about how and where they do it. Thus the reason other protests, demonstrations, etc have to get permits.

On another note, If they are really serious about making something happen, they can do something better than this. All of the manpower and combined minds behind this, they could come up with something more constructive than "lets set ups some tents and just hang out for a week".

"Raising awareness" can be an easy way to slip into lazy ass activism. If you REALLY want to make a difference, put out some constructive effort.

They don't like how the corporations are running? All those people with all that time and energy could be doing things like

organizing true non profits

starting or supporting competitive businesses based on what they feel are socially responsible mindsets

Starting or supporting policitical action committees

Organizing effective movements to purchase from companies whose policies you find acceptable.

The point is, thousands of people supposedly agree there is a problem. Setting up tent cities and hanging out seems like a real waste of potential.
