Okay this is not a close call where one does the crime the pays the fine.

I've been parking outside my home for 2.5 years displaying the valid permit on the passenger site. This past Friday an officer gave me a $52 ticket for being parked for over 2 hours right at that spot. That's the spot for which I have a permit for. The permit has not expired, area 17 permits expire at the end of January. The sticker is attached on the windshield on the passenger side. It was not blocked by anything, by any leaf or anything else.

Do I have to go to court to fight this ticket?

I called the parking office trying to talk to the officer or his/her supervisor who was supposed to call me back on the Friday, but I got no response.

Any ideas?

I would take a photo of the permit in the window, and write a letter to the officer and send a copy to his supervisor explaining why you are right and should not have been ticketed. Make sure you get a receipt indicating when they received it (I can't remember if that's called registered mail or certified mail) No rants, stay polite. Save all correspondence from the officer and his boss. If they called you, make a note about what was said. If it's not resolved, I would fight it in court.
