I thought it was made pretty clear that it wasn't really expected to turn a profit in the first year.

I think there's a difference between turning a profit and failing to cover expenses and/or pay your debts.

How on Earth do they sell 110k tickets to something, and probably 80k beers and come up so far in the red they can't even pay the guy who installed bleachers. This group has seemed shady from the beginning.

Yeah, I'm thinking I may have undershot that number. I know my group of 10 probably had 50. They probably sold more like 400,000 beers.

Next time set up the bleachers along Wabash Ave...
do straight run time trials and they may even make a few pennies.

Have the NOI guys hawking bean pies in the stands too.

Um, hold on a minute- do you all remember how the city cut down 30+ mature trees in the middle of the night to install the grandstands? Do you also remember how they claimed to be able to plant double the amount of trees with the proceeds from the race after it was over? Yeah. Thought so.
