Hi group,

Wife and I are relocating from Indy to Baltimore and I will be working in Columbia. We are city people, 30, and enjoy parks, nightlife, resturants, no kids, and have a big dog.

I'm ok driving ~ 30 min and I think it will be a reverse commute. It looks like north or east BM may be too far. Any ideas for good neighborhoods?

Looking to spend 200-300 for a house, or row house but does need a (small ok) yard for the dog.

thanks,

Jim

You probably want to be in the southern portions of the city. Federal Hill, Locust Point, Ridgely's delight would be the first places I'd look. 300k could get you something pretty nice! Tons of nightlife, huge dog environment, commute to Columbia is 20-30 minutes.

I second these recommendations strongly.

200-300 is the majority of homes in the area. Currently there are some really nice deals in that range that are near parks and such. Just beware that property taxes will likely cause sticker shock compared to Indy.

There are plenty of Red Sox fans in Baltimore. And you'll see even more of them visiting in town when they play the Orioles. Unless you are talking about the White Sox?

The Patriots fans seem to be either less numerous or more secretive in Baltimore

No one will bother you in Baltimore for liking other teams unless you really deserve it. Steelers fans are the exception though, they get constant ribbing! Very passionate sports town!

Great, another Sox fan.

Just kidding. The transplanted sox fans generally do not misbehave at Oriole Park so I have no problem with them. Those who travel south for the games and spend three days in a drunken stupor and act like arrogant foul-mouthed hobos who use the ballpark and downtown as their personal toilet, I DO have a problem with.

Yankees fans are 100 times worse. Welcome.
