Default AA Midatlantic Accent

I was talking to some friends who informed me that they don't really believe there is an AA Mid-Atlantic accent, only different northern and southern accents. What would y'all say are some characteristics of the black AA mid-atlantic accent as opposed to a southern or northern accent? Where would y'all place the boundaries for the accent (DC/Baltimore/Delaware, would you include Richmond/Norfolk Virginia)? Also which people would use as examples for demonstrating the accent?

People from Baltimore and DC don't even have the same accent.

Black people from Delaware pronounce r's (wooder vs wawtah.) Delaware's AA accent is more like Philly's AA Accent. Baltimore and DC's AA accents are southern. Delaware blacks also won't be caught saying "case quarter" or "fend" or anything like that.

Baltimore's accent isn't southern, but DC's kinda is. And what is "case quarter?"

And what is "case quarter?"

As opposed to two dimes and a nickel.

Just scream everything you can, regardless of whether it deserves emphasis; even small talk should sound like you're being murdered. Some inflection of 'mother****er' should be used at least once in every sentence as well.

I'm not great with accents, but I have noticed a big difference from where I last lived (Houston). Maybe Texas doesn't really count as Southern (somewhere between Southern and midwestern?). I also think that there the difference between accents in different ethnic populations was smaller there. But then, I lived in a very mixed, middle-class area. In fact it has been my experience that socio-economic class AND whether you are in a city or rural location makes a bigger difference in accent than geographic distance otherwise unqualified.
