If 10 or 20% of the jury pool are "trolls", or whatever you want to call them, I'd be worried about the case.

Again, I ANAL, but that is what I would do. Get a jury full of the underclass, and try to convince them that the police and prosecution is making all the stuff up, or find an alibi, or some minor clerical error, claim there was a rush to find somebody to hold accountable and try to say that this is "reasonable doubt." Remember, the Defense only needs to convince one juror not to convict.

There are many many people, not just in Baltimore, that think "the man" is out to get people. The defense should play it up.

As for the conviction % in Baltimore? I have no clue what it is. I doubt it is very high. Probably far more generous plea bargins and short sentences than risky trials with sketchy jury pools.
This would require the underclass to have some sense of solidarity. A lot of people think "the man" is out to get them, but in Baltimore even more people think strangers are getting away with stuff that friends/family get locked up for. Rushing to find somebody to hold ac****able is exactly what people want. Filling the jury with the underclass is the exact opposite of what I would want to do if I were a defense lawyer: there are too many people who don't know the law and want to enforce a personal sense of "fairness" on people.

That said, if these people get off easy it will because deals are made, not because of a jury.

i just want to know why the girls weren't charged with sexual assault. I mean, I've watched the tape & it's almost literally the federal definition of sexual assault w/o penetration. More than anything, that's what bothers me.

I would argue they are an accessory to a crime more so than that. The sexual assault would seem hard to prove given that he made no effort to avoid them and appeared to invite the attention.
