Default The Estates in Pikesville

I've been apartment hunting the last few weeks. I'd prefer to hug the beltway since work is along it. I got on the waitlist at The Estates, almost got on the waitlist at The Courts at Avalon (decided to hold off for several reasons, primarily $$$), and was slightly pleasantly surprised by Bonnie Ridge.

I get the deal at Courts at Avalon and Bonnie Ridge. The Estates matches up most closely with what I want regarding price and location. I was given what I assume to be the standard tour of a staged one bed room apartment. Don't get me wrong, it was staged really well. But what is it really like living there? Sure it has a high rating on a website....but who knows if they're honest?

Also, I have been in the sketchy part of Resiterstown Road, and this is decidedly not sketchy superficially during the day...what is it like at night?

I lived at the Estates for almost a year, I believe 2009/2010 when MD had those massive snowstorms. Speaking of which, they did a great job clearing out all the snow from the complex whereas there were a lot of other places nearby that didn't get even get touched for awhile.

I thought the location seemed safe during all hours of the day. I really liked having a lot of useful stuff within walking distance: Goldberg Bagels, Giant, Post Office, Fedex, Staples, Pizza, Barber Shop, etc.

Probably the most annoying thing there (which really isn't that big of a deal) is that a lot of the parking spaces were pretty tiny, so you may need to be careful if you don't plan on getting any dents in the side of your car.

Sketchy? I can't picture any part of Pikesville being sketchy day or night. And especially that area along Old Court over to Park Heights.

The OP didn't say Pikesville, just Reisterstown Rd. which can get sketchy going into Baltimore City. Even Reisterstown Plaza, just 2 miles from the Estates, isn't exactly the safest place to be at night.

The Plaza's not bad. Been there at night many times to get food.

Yes, exactly.

Well it's good to know that the immediate area may be ok. Thanks for the feedback everyone.
