Try downtown Baltimore westside. You shuld be able to get a loft for $1100 month. You would be able to access subway, public buses, and all the other amenties.

lol - I seriously doubt the probability of this happening to a non-caucasian are greater than the probability of them happening in a black neighborhood TO a caucasian.
White neighborhoods are soooo rife with violence! lol I can see a racial slur or two, but stabbed? I think you have the white and black neighborhoods confused.

Have you considered downtown Baltimore? Near Charles or Calvert. It's in the heart of Baltimore, everything is basically in walking distance. However, with the amount of rent you can afford, I'm not sure if you would be able to find anything descent.

Try Towson.
I love the city, but it has a lot of drawbacks.
Now that I live in York County, again, I miss the place, but, well, it's dysfunctional, and seems to be Hell bent on staying that way.
The Urban Frontier is pretty wild!
I doubt not property prices will nosedive again, and soon, as people again discover that when the sun goes down, you circle the wagons, and pray for dawn!
Baltimore never quite goes under, but every brief bloom of hope seems to be extinguished after a few years.

If people keep running for the burbs, like Towson...what do you think will follow? It will be just like other parts of Balto County and PG County. The crime will follow and unless you do something about the cause of all the crimes. Heading a few miles out of town will only be a temporary fix.

People have been saying that for years-it hasn't happened yet.
Corruption is the City's greatest problem-and has been for a very long time.
Real reform is impossible, because everybody is elbow deep in it, and if one goes down, the rest go with them-stop snitchin', eh?
No, only outside intervention will help.
There was a town called Phenix City(sic) in Georgia-outside a large Army post.
There's a movie about it, probably not too accurate, but it got the idea across.
That town was so corrupt, the State finally sent the National Guard and put it under Martial Law until they could effect regime change.
Baltimore isn't quite that bad, but frankly, it's getting close.
I've seen the City at it's worst, and it's pretty bad-the Slow Motion Riot.

Please, Baltimore is no different than any other large city in this country. There may be corruption but what city does not have that? Sometimes, a person just has to say c'est la vie and go on with one's life. I have been in Baltimore for over 20 years and have witnessed the changes occuring and it is much better than what was once here. I have also lived in and experienced other large cities and we are not alone with our issues. Maybe everyone in Baltimore should move up to rural York County and start over??? Either that or stay we are and keep on trying to make our city better. I'll choose the later, live in the city, experience it, deal with it, and not constantly gripe and complain about it because I am part of it.

It wasn't my idea to move-my wife died, my Mothra in Law hired a lawyer to make sure I lost our condo.
I spent thirty years there-almost all of this in law enforcement-and I bled for that city.
I've been to other cities, some are indeed as bad as Baltimore, but most are not.
Not a lost cause, but the comeback is gonna be tough!
