So much for the "stay out of the hood" argument.

Ah, sweeping under the rug.
A wise observation.
What happens when you sweep
dirt under a rug? You have a
lumpy rug where people trip and fall.
With enough dirt (and rug) you have
a mountain. Point is, its not going away
even if you try to to sweep it away.

I read nothing that the victims were minding their own business and going about their everyday lives.

Hitting on a drug dealers girfriend is asking for trouble. Not saying he/they deserved to get shot either but it's common knowledge that one must be careful who you speak to on the street, especially when it comes to this.

That's right! While you're walking without your iPod and not talking on your cell phone, remember not to speak to anyone either.
And when you get caught in the crossfire, make sure the papers know you were just going about your business.

Obviously innocent victims of getting caught in a crossfire does happen. Goes without saying.

But the large majority of these violent crimes is drug and rival gang related. It's a shame this person had a weapon but in the end this one could have been avoided.

Also I may suggest to anyone reading that it is a very bad idea to be walking the streets and not being vigilant. The post above is a perfect example of what not to do when walking as one is not paying attention, especially in medium to high risk areas. Having an iPod visable in many cases is high risk for getting robbed and not just in Baltimore either.

Eh. One should be able to hoot at a pretty girl and not get shot over it. The behavior is obnoxious but not especially egregious. They didn't do anything "wrong" IMO. The shooter is fully to blame.

Honestly vigilance will only go so far. Most of the time it is enough, but not always.

The OP has always had an issue with the concept that low crime area/low risk does not equal NO crime area or NO risk. He posts stuff like this to "prove" his point all the time.

RIP to the victims.
