I was wondering to get some insight from some of the locals on this community. Is this a safe and quiet area. Iam considering purchasing a home in this area soon. And input/advice would be helpful thanks. Also I do plan on scoping out the area first-hand next week.

It is generally safe, reasonably quiet, very convenient with some nice homes.

Unlike most cities in the US...
Baltimore, and everything a municipal government does, is politically independent of the County.

Strong neighborhood. Excellent homeowner's association. Closely knit. Diverse population. Great housing stock.

Catonsville provides most of the amenities. Most of your shopping, dining and recreational activities will be in/around Catonsville.

The issue is schooling. There's no equivalent of Roland Park Elementary or Mount Washington Elementary.

If you go private.. there is St. Agne's Catholic School, St. Marks, and Our Lady of Victory all just over the line....in Baltimore County...

It seems like a decent neighborhood.

I've heard the Jamestown Apartment aren't great and the kids that go to the school in the area are a nuisance.

That being said I still think it's a good neighborhood with some reasonable priced houses.

I would recommend Ten Hills to someone interested in its unique housing stock and convenience to the SSA and CMS offices (but not "anyone"). While it may be generally safe, it is close to some west Baltimore neighborhoods with crime problems. There may be police helicopters roaming overhead. If you move there, you you have to understand it is not suburbia.
