I agree with the above statement. I have been to Paris and it is in fact a beautiful city but like all cities, you have to use common sense. Baltimore has plenty of areas for you to enjoy.

Read: Uncommon, not non-existent.
Is the questioner looking for the facts or random opinions from people who looooooove everything?

Probably not. Just like the questioner probably isn't looking for facts or random opinions from people who haaaaaate everything.

That question was actually a choice, not a yes or no. Are they looking for the facts OR are they looking for opinions?
It was aimed at the original poster, not someone so eager to take a cheap shot she didn't even understand the question.

That was a cheap shot? I never would have guessed that you were so sensitive. I'm sorry that you read my previous post as such.
But surely you must know from your time on this forum that facts can sometimes be distorted because of what can often seem to be people's all-love or all-hate attitudes toward Baltimore. And I, for one, appreciate when you label your opinions as opinions, such as in your recent post, "My opinion is that if she [NYC girl] comes to Baltimore, she will be disappointed."
Thus, when I stated, "the questioner probably isn't looking for facts or random opinions from people who haaaaaate everything," I was merely suggesting that those on the other side of the love/hate dichotomy that you invoked withhold their comments because those comments, whether based in fact or opinion, might not be anymore useful than the facts or opinions given by those who "loooooooove everything."

Not sure how true facts would be influenced by either point of view. Opinions-yes. But, facts (such as Baltimore's per capita crime rate or the city school's drop out rate) should presented to support an argument, not opinions as most do.

Hi, I'm here again. I'm a little scared about your opinions of Baltimore. We've decided to look for an apartment in Fells Point but there is also Annapolis which seems to be a nice place for living. Do you know Annapolis ? Do you think it would be better for us to moving to Annapolis than moving to Fells Point ? People who will work with me in Baltimore told me that Annapolis is much better but they are people with a family, and older than us. What I mean is that we don't want to be in a quiet quiet place with no things to do. I think that living in a residence like the eden or the crescent would be for us the best way to know young people and to make friends....

I think you are better off moving to Baltimore. Why? You will be working in Baltimore and not have to commute. Do not be afraid of Baltimore. There are over 600 thousand people living in the city and many of them live in very nice neighborhoods. Your interest in Fells Point is fine. The apartments you are looking at are very convenient and not the least bit crime-ridden. That area is as safe as Paris. Take your one year lease on the place and if you are not happy, move to someplace more to your liking. But, I think you will be happy there. Also, try to use more sources other than just this forum. You will get a better picture of Baltimore.

I love Annapolis, but you'd be bored to tears unless you lived downtown, and you won't get much for your money there. Plus, the commute would grow tedious over time. I think you'd really enjoy living in Baltimore, and the areas you're looking at are fine.

I'll be curious about your experiences here in Baltimore. I'm a native German who lived in Northwest DC for six years and recently moved to Baltimore. Boy, what a culture shock. I think the quality of life in this town is far inferior to anywhere I have lived before, and I haven't even been affected by crime. As a European, I'm assuming you will expect a certain cosmopolitan flair. There's none to be had here. Baltimoreans love their city -- I guess you always cherish the place where you grew up. But if you read the reports from those who moved here from elsewhere in the United States, the general subtext is that folks can't wait to get back out.
