Unhappy Verizon DSL Availability

I live in McElderry Park, just feet from Patterson Park Neighborhood.

Are there maps of what areas have DSL?. I know my area doesnt have the best reputation, and the median income here is pretty low. But Im tired of waiting

Default Dsl

We live in Cheswolde, just north of Mount Washington. I was told all kinds of conflicting stuff about Verizon availability here. So I ordered the modem and tried to get online. I was able to get online once and after that it was back to dial-up.
A year later tried again. It didn't work and a Verizon lineman said it would never work because their switching station was too far away. So I hired a computer guru to do it for me. He did whatever he did and now it works. It's not very fast but surely faster than dial-up. Once a month or so it is on the fritz for perhaps an hour.
The best thing is that you can use your telephone while online.
This won't help you but this is my experience.

I just called Verizon a couple days ago about switching from Comcast to Verizon. I live right off off Library Square, just south of Fayette. DSL is available to me, and so I am getting it at the end of the month. What isn't available yet is the Verizon fiber optics but will be in 1-2 years. Before calling Verizon, I put in my address in the Verizon site and was told DSL wasn't available. But, as I'm desparate to get away from Comcast, I called and talked to an actual person at the Verizon 800 number, and lo and behold, I can get DSL.

Also, you can get different speeds for DSL; it all depends on the price, so you might ask about that as well.
