helenejen,
thanks for your thoughtful post. Your point is well taken, some may think my opinions are extreme. That's why I label them as opinion, as in, my opinion is that Baltimore has no redeeming qualities. People reading this can judge whether they want to accept my opinion or not. What's more worrisome to me is that some posters are attacking the facts I present as if that was opinion. It's not my opinion that three police officers were shot in the neighborhoods surrounding my home this year. It's not my opinion that an 88 year old lady was raped and beaten this year. It's not my opinion that Josh Sowers was beaten into a coma this year. Without belaboring the point, these are a few high profile incidents that I think folks evaluating Baltimore should know about. My opinions should be taken as just that. But my opinion is no less valid than the poster who said the harbor was "near perfect" or the poster who said he bikes though public housing projects. Please, who is believable here?
Goin for a two-fer here...
rudy_d,
thanks for your interesting post also, however, you misquote me. I never compared Baltimore to Bhagdad. A poster wrote and asked whether Baltimore is safe? That's kind of a wide open question. So I asked, compared to what? Bhagdad or Beruit or Salt Lake City or Denver? You could have accused me of comparing Baltimore to Salt Lake City, but you chose the negative and inflammatory.
