Default Moving from ATL to MD... need some help, please

Hello, everyone:

I'll be relocating from Atlanta to Maryland at the end of January. I'm hoping there might be one or some of you who are familiar with Atlanta and can help me relate to Maryland.

I'll be working in and around Prince George County, and my home office is in downtown Baltimore. I don't mind living up to 15 miles away, since I'll have some flexibility with my schedule and won't always have to drive during rush hours. MARC access would be nice for weekends, but it isn't necessary since I need to drive for work anyway.

Can any of you tell me what neighborhoods might appeal to me? I'm in my early 30s and single, with no children. I'm going through a separation, so I can't afford too much for rent until I get back on my feet. I'd like to live in a safe neighborhood that's somewhat trendy, contemporary, perhaps a yuppie/buppie type of community... working class... diverse, if possible... preferrably pet-friendly... maybe some coffee shops, boutiques (but I can do without that, if necessary).

To compare to Atlanta, I'm looking for a neighborhood like Grant Park, East Atlanta, Brookhaven, Vinings, Little Five Points, etc... I like to live in or close to the city, as I enjoy going out to dinner and things like that. I'm told North Baltimore is nice?

Thanks for any assistance you can provide! God bless!

Baltimore is quite a commute and not to pleasant of one to Prince George County. You may want to look in the DC area for an easier life. But there are plenty of nice neighborhoods in the city that are dog friendly.
