"The FBI cautions against ranking cities based on crime statistics because there are a variety of factors that make it hard to compare each city solely on numbers."

But you know, let's do it anyway.

Default boredatwork

Come on now....What data is being used and compared to what. The most murders list wouldn't be applicable because you can't compare Baltimore to New York. St. Louis, Detroit, New Orleans I believe still had higher rates.

Baltimore is a very small city compared to NYC, Chicago and even Houston, but goes to show you how dangerous this city is in comparison to other urban municipalities.

Does it really matter if we are #1 or #7? It's still high no matter how you slice it.

It's not going to budge without tremendous time, money and effort put towards turning things around in the poorest, most drug ravaged areas and we all know that's not going to happen anytime soon.

More likely the city will simply try to kick more lower income people out to the counties over time and call that a solution. And maybe lock more people up, which doesn't help over time unless you are going to pour support into the kids they leave behind.

Why yes, I'm feeling cynical today. Why do you ask? LOL

Former Baltimore Police Chief (ex-New Yorker cop) Ed Norris once stated, "Baltimore is 1/15th the size of New York City, but has an astronomical high rate of homicides that you'd see in a much larger metropolitan city with larger populations. Baltimore City is a very dangerous place to live!"
