Need to find a safe place in the south
Moving to Baltimore from Georgia in the next 2 months and looking for a safe area in daily travelling distance to Baltimore Airport. Moving with my wife and 3 kids and we would like to live near a good school and the beach. I've read a lot of these posts and am I right in saying that there is good and bad in the MD area and if you stay out of the bad then you'll be OK ?
From an outsiders point of view I really appreciate the time and effort that you regular posting folks give to us travellers.
Thanks in advance
Robbie

What beach? If you are referring to the Atlantic, that is quite a distance to drive daily to the airport. Yes, Maryland just like Georgia has good and not so good locations.

Maybe a beach for the weekend. The important part is the safe area.
Thanks

Yes, the Annapolis area or somewhere in Anne Arundel County would be a good choice. It will besomewhat close to the airport and also within shooting distance of the Bay Bridge to the ocean. But, there are areas in Anne Arundel that have "safety" issues so do your homework.

In the areas immediately surrounding the city of Annapolis, areas like Arnold and Severna Park, the schools are some of the county's best. Plenty of pre-school (Joy in Learning in Arnold is said to be good) and the Anne Arundel Community College has pre-K.

Thanks all - any recommended websites for rentals in these areas
Thanks all, you really give great service and amazing insight into your area. Was looking for some web addresses for rental in the Arnold area + surrounding.

You may even like to live just across the Bay Bridge from Annapolis. The prices drop considerably and the Eastern Shore is very nice/quiet. I lived in Easton, did a wee hour commute to Bowie. Easton/Bowie was an hour one way but Rt 50 is an easy go off hours. I loved the view as well. Assateaque is my favorite Atlantic beach in MD. Just watch how you expose your food as the ponies can be quite pushy for a snack.
