Hi,
What are the best public libraries in and around Baltimore? Do any of the colleges in the Baltimore area allow easy public access?

It depends on what you define as "the best". We like Rosedale because they have a Storyville, but if you don't have a young child that wouldn't matter to you much, I'd imagine.

Personally, I like the Enoch Pratt Free Library Central Library on Cathedral St. in Baltimore city. I have not used any of the public libraries in the surrounding counties.

Not sure what you're after. If you need technical textbooks, then public libraries like Baltimore City and Country aren't going to cut-it. Hopkins allows members of the community to checkout books with a friends of library membership, which I think is either $150 or $200 annually -- well worth it when I needed it.

Hi,
I'm interested in libraries with technical texts for me, family-friendly environments for my kiddies, and good study environments for me or the little ones.

I think Pratt or County libraries get you all of what you want but the technical material. Although, Pratt main does has a decent collection of math books and computer language books -- not much in the way of stats though. The good stuff, if they have it, will have already been checked-out. So you may want to check the online cat. in addition to just browsing the shelves. Good luck.

I should also mention that Hopkins will allow you to visit the library for free. So if you can learn what you need while visiting and not checking-out materials, then that can be option too. Likewise for University of Baltimore in Mount Vernon.
