New job in Columbia, MD. We are looking for a rental or a lease w/option of a single family home, maybe a TH. Location we desire is within 30 miles of Columbia. We have a preference to be in Howard County, Southeast Carroll County, or Catonsville. Schools and community are very important to us. We are both professionals with one 14yo son, involved in martial arts, music, bowling, and other sports. We also have 2 small dogs, less than 30 pounds, house broken. We want a yard for the dogs and for our entertainment. I grill all year long. At least a 3/2, a garage maybe, on the plus size of 1500 square feet, less than $2K. We will arrive in Columbia on the 21st, maybe the 22nd, of this month. When responding please sent cost information, square footage, deposit, rent, photos for her, etc. I really do not want to stay in a hotel very long, please help. Please no professional realtors! She has worked for lawyers and private CPA firms. LadynCross@cox.net

Try putting something up on Craigslist for the area. I live in Howard County and renting a house for less then $2k is going to be a hard one. Plus many people are using realtors for rentals too now. Maybe look for a 6 month lease apartment in the area. As for your sons activies thats the easy Howard County has all the activies and then some. As for your dogs that shouldn't be a problem either, some places allow them and some don't. Just ask ahead of time. Anyways good luck.

Default did you check the local papers online?

Craigslist is a great idea, because usually the people posting there or reading there are better educated....

try classifido.net, patuxent publishing puts out news papers like "howard county times, catonsville times arbutus times" etc....any rentals would be listed there also, a new paper comes out for us in catonsville (which is where I live) every wednesday so it should be updated very frequently.

And yes the other ideas of using a real estate agent are good too...there are many house rentals in the catonsville area, you'd need to drive around to find them, they just put up a sign near the house usually.
