some goldbergs posts from chowhound.com threads:
Goldbergs in Owings Mills, MD. I know it's a far drive, but straight outta Brooklyn. Goldbergs on Reisterstown Rd in Pikesville MD is great. I lived in Brooklyn for 9 years and I think these bagels are very good. Go on Saturday night and witness the party till 2am. nothing as good as essa bagel, but goldbergs on reisterstown rd. in pikesvilled has to be the best in the area (baltimore) decent bagels in bmore Greg's for great fun bagels and funny staff, Goldberg's for a traditional NY bagel, no question about it. Izzes isnt very good imo, tastes just like the manhattan bagels that used to be there. i prefer bagel city to them, but that isnt saying much. unfortunately, in that rockville, potomac, bethesda area, the best bagel is Bethesda Bagel. Now that I've moved to Baltimore for a new job, I've been getting my bagels at Goldberg's NY Bagels in Pikesville. Closest thing to Ess-a-Bagel that youre gonna get in MD in my opinion |

Also you can order from Goldberg's!!!
not sure if they actually deliver meals but u can order bagels which i believe are shipped straight from nyc From the about us section of the goldberg's bagels pg: Back in the early 1900's, a young Polish immigrant named Isador Goldberg arrived in New York with a carefully guarded secret recipe for the world’s best bagels. Soon after, he opened a little bagel shop on the Lower East Side and began baking Goldberg's original old-world bagels. Today, when people nostalgically refer to a great New York bagel, this is the bagel they remember–the perfect size, the perfect crunch, and the perfect texture. Naturally, Goldberg’s bagels are boiled before baking, and they’re created with the finest quality ingredients. Each bagel is lovingly crafted with the very same recipe that Isadore Goldberg brought with him from the Old Country. Isadore’s son moved the bagel store to northern New Jersey, where Goldberg’s bagels expanded and grew in popularity. Now, almost 60 years later, Goldberg’s bagels are becoming the favorite with people all across the country. Here in Baltimore is a modern version of Isadore Goldberg’s original bagel shop. Our store may be a little more modern, and our equipment is now state-of-the-art, but the bagels you are about to eat have been baked from the original recipe that has been kept a secret for three generations. |

I knew bagels were assocaited with NY but I don't know about the Jewish connection, everyone from there eats bagels and a lot of Jews from down here don't. And in Israel bagels are actually less popular than donuts. And isn't it true that Toby Keith is starting a new barbecue type chain and will have a location in Harford County? |

Also the Rusty Rudder and Philips Seafood I've heard are Bmore classics.
Baltimore may not be paradise like Phoenix or Las Vegas but at least it has its own style and culture, which Montgomery County does not. |
