Report of secret aerial surveillance by Baltimore police prompts questions, outrage - Baltimore Sun

I really don't understand what all the commotion is about. They have been using planes with cameras to fly over American cities since WW2. People gave consent to this type of surveillance long ago. The people who are complaining are apparently too stupid to realize that technology changes and that those using these methods would upgrade to new technology. No different than consenting to have your picture taken by someone with a vintage 1940s camera, but refusing to have your picture taken when the photographer upgrades to the latest digital camera.

Not to mention that much of Baltimore has been under video monitoring for years, which now uses facial recognition programing (little known factoid, Downtown Annapolis has it too).

At least 5 years ago. I was at a meeting at the Command Center and they were showing them off. Mostly, at that time, down around City Dock and the Downtown.

"copped a rock"?

Sounds like an urban thang, no?

In other news.. BPD sponsored an event at Druid Hill Park as part of back to school. I guess I shouldn't be surprised that this received little news coverage.. Now if the BPD officers clashed with students.. well.. then THAT would be news..
