Looking to buy a house for rental investment and eventually move in.. I am looking at town houses in Upton around Gilmore and Lafayette. Seems like you can get pretty decent rental... Is it a good area and is it a good idea to buy for rental in the area? Thanks.

The intersection of Gilmore and Lafayette is not in Upton. It is either in Sandtown-Winchester or Harlem Park.

About the best that can be said for Sandtown-Winchester is that it has nowhere to go but up. Personally, I don't think that Upton would be a good bet for future value increases. But maybe some folks more visionary than I am can chime in.

The eastern part of the Upton Neighborhood has some good upside potential over the next decade. The problem is that Gilmore is way west of anyplace that has a medium term upside (and isn't in Upton at all.) And believe me - Gilmore and Lafayette needs an upside.
